More Potty Talk!

Kaylee is advancing by leaps and bounds in potty training these days! For the last several mornings, she wakes up totally dry and goes to the potty first thing. It is so awesome!
She also made a huge advancement the other night and poopied in the potty for the first time. It was a HUGE deal. I've started noticing that she is doing a 'potty' dance before she needs to go, so she is becoming more aware what it 'feels' like to need to go. Now we are jsut working on her getting more independant and TELLING us she has to go. But for now, I am quite content to take her at least every hour or so to the potty. She is doing so great, and for the most part she stays dry during the day/night.
We will probably try switching over to big girl undies in the next few weeks.... but I am so proud of my little princess and her potty sucess!!!

Has it really been 2 years?

I sit here thinking back to 2 years ago today. I was told 2 years ago today that I would be induced on Oct. 23, 2006. What joy and excitment. . . and worry. I couldn't wait to meet our precious little girl, yet deep inside I was consumed with those 'first mother' worries about labor and breastfeeding and being a good enough mom. However, from the moment Kaylee was placed on my chest, all of those fears and worries vanished. . .. (not that they haven't reappeared over the last 2 years though).

I sit here tonight listening to a quiet house while my daughter sleeps and my husband is down doing something in the basement and I think back 2 years to what our life was like before Kaylee. . and I simply can't remember it. I can't remember what it was like without her smile or her saying " I luv you mommy!" with that big cheesy grin. I can't remember not reading Cinderella 2-5 times a night or whatever other book she was in love with at the momment. 2 years have come and almost gone. .. Thursday, Kaylee will turn 2. Its so hard for me to believe that while she is turning 2 our newest addition Michael is growing and kicking in my belly as I sit here and type. What excitment I know will come with having a 2nd child's pitter patter footsteps running around our house.

This past friday I took Kaylee to get her 2 year pictures made and I have to say that I am in love with them (and her smile!!). She was so awesome at the shoot and it was a very nice day just her and mommy. I am trying to treasure every mommy-daughter moment I can sneak in these final 14 weeks before Michael is born. Although I can't imagine my life without Kaylee it is still hard for me to imagine it with Kaylee AND Michael, but I know its going to be even more exciting and filled with even more love and joy!

Here are Kaylee's baby pictures, one year pictures and the ones we took Friday. . My how she has grown!! Look for a "Birthday Blog" coming soon!!!

Fall has arrived!

This weekend was full of excitment. . . and lots of CAKE!

We celebrated 2 birthdays this weekend. . . Chris's birthday was Wednesday Oct. 8 and meme's birthday was Thurs. Oct 9. Friday night we got together at my mom's house to celebrate with everyone. It was a fun time together, and of course Kaylee was the center of the party!

Saturday, Chris and I took Kaylee up to the mountains for our trip to Burts' Pumpkin Farm and we visited an apple orchard as well. We didn't quite expect the crowds that were there, but we still had a great time. Kaylee loved seeing all the pumpkins! She wanted all of them!! We finally found the perfect pumpkin to bring home and carve (which we did immediatly after getting home!)

Then we drove a few miles up the road to visit Hillcrest Orchards (apple farm and petting zoo). Kaylee loved seeing all the animals at the petting zoo, going down the big slide, sitting on a bull and taking a wagon ride through the apple orchard. It was a wonderful afternoon. The leaves in the mountains were so beautiful and the weather was perfect! We can only imagine what it will be like this time next year with a 10 month old and a almost 3 yr old at the pumpkin patch!

Lots of reasons to celebrate!

This past weekend was one celebration after another!

It constantly amazes me at how excited and amazed I get at the smallest things Kaylee does. I guess I'm one of 'those' mommies!

This weekend was no different.

It started Friday afternoon on our ride home from Athens. Kaylee had begun this past week asking "what's your name?" and she would answer saying her name was Kaylee..... well when I asked her "what's your name?" and she said "Kaylee. . . Kaylee Purvis". I was shocked! She is learning so much!! I proceeded to ask her 'how old are you?' and she said " I 2!" amazing!

Well, Saturday proved to be even more eventful! Chris worked so hard all day (and night!) putting together her new playset! While he was busy working- the 'girls' went shopping.
While out shopping Kaylee told me "I go potty mommy" so off to the public restroom we went! I wasn't quite sure what to expect..... public restrooms aren't my favorite- and the thought of having her touching everything wasn't a great one, but I couldn't deny her the potty with the great job she had been doing.

Much to my surprise she sat on the potty- went pee-pee and gave me a big smile. She was so proud! And so was I! She did this one more time while out shopping. Such a big girl!!

Sunday after church was a little more eventful- at least in the public restroom experience! After eating lunch, she wanted to go potty again, so we headed off to the restroom. Again, she was a pro and had no problems. After she finished and we got her clothes back on, I told her to stand still while mommy went potty. As soon as I started my 'business' she said... in the loudest voice.. 'You did it mommy! yay!! " I know everyone in the ladies room was rolling laughing. I finished up and we went out to wash our hands and the ladies at the sink were just laughing and saying how cute she was. It was embarassing but I had to remind myself that every mother surly goes through that at some point!!

So fast forward to Sunday afternoon and the 'big reveal' of the playground! After Kaylee's nap- we went outside to show her the playground. She absolutly loved it! She ran around and played all afternoon and evening. It was hard to get her to come back in the house!!

Here are a few pictures showing her new backyard playground.... and I have to brag on Chris for a moment and say what a FABULOUS job he did on it!
