Michael's one week update

Well, little Michael is growing by leaps and bounds! We went for his one week check up today and he is doing great!

Here is a track of his weight progress:
Birth: 8lbs 5oz
Day we went home from hospital: 7lbs 13 oz
Today- One week: 8lbs 7oz!

He has regained his birth weight plus some! All those round the clock feedings are paying off!
Its hard to believe we have been home with him a week already. . . We are slowly adjusting to a family of four and it is so much fun. (alot of work but also alot of fun!).
I plan to have a little 'mommy fun' tommorow and have a photo shoot with Michael so look for those pics to come soon!!

Big sister Kaylee

Kaylee has been super this week adjusting to baby Michael. She Loves her baby brother. She can't stand to hear him cry- she gets so worried about him, its the sweetest thing.
She loves to cover him up and make him 'warm and cozy' or sit on the couch and hold him like a big girl. She also likes getting in the stroller with Michael. We went for our first walk yesterday and she loved ridding with Michael.

She's also a good helper for mommy, going to get things for me and bringing them to me. She has been super this week! I really am anxious to see how her and Michael interact later in life, I think they will be good buds (for a while anyways)

here's a few pictures of Kaylee with her baby brother.

Michael's birth story- becoming a family of four!

How a week changes things!
Although we knew that I was schedule to be induced on the 21st, our little boy had other plans in mind. Tuesday, Jan. 20th at 5am I woke up to my water breaking. At first I didn't know for sure that was what it was, but after calling my dr, we were told to head off to the hospital. We got Kaylee dressed and dropped her off at daycare and arrived at the hospital around 7:45am. It wasn't until almost 10am though that they decided I was indeed in labor and was finally admitted. I was 2cm, 50% effaced and my water was broken.... we were on our way to meet our little boy!! We spent the morning watching the inauguration waiting for my contractions to pick up. Needless to say, I'll never forget where I was when Mr. Obama took office, although, honestly I can't remember much of what he said of what happened during the ceremony :)
By noon, the family had arrived and I was 3 cm, and 80% effaced and Michael had dropped to a 0 station. Labor was going smoothly and quicker than with Kaylee.
At around 4:30 pm, I was 8cm- 100% and a +1 station and was begging for my epidural. Around 5:15 I finally had my pain relief and the dr said it wouldn't be much longer till we were pushing.
After about 15min of pushing, Michael arrived at 6:47pm weighing 8lbs, 5oz and was 20.5 inches long. He was the most handsome little boy I had ever seen!! He had a head full of hair and I'll never forget the moment he was laid on my chest.
After things had been cleaned up, we brought in big sister Kaylee to meet Michael, and although she did look at her brother she was more concerned about her mommy- and why I couldn't get out of bed. Shortly after our family of four had been acquainted, the rest of our family slowly came back to meet Michael. It was a wonderful evening, and things have only gotten better as the week has continued.

So, today, 5 days later, I sit in my living room with my wonderful husband, sweet 2yr old little girl and my precious baby boy, hanging out together, just the four of us... and life seems so complete. I'm overjoyed at the blessings in my life and so grateful that God has entrusted me with these 2 precious children to raise. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us as we grow together.

Here are a few pictures from this week and you can view plenty more on our photo site.

Meet Michael Alexander Purvis!!

Well, this little boy didn't like the idea of being 'induced and planned!" I woke up tuesday morning early (5am) to my water breaking... and off to the hospital we went.

I don't have time to post the whole story but the delivery went wonderful and we are all doing great!!!

Michael was born at 6:47pm weighing 8lbs 5oz and 20.5 inches long

Michael will be here this week!!!

Well, yesterday we set an induction date. I haven't made alot of progress on my own, although his head is dropping, so we decided to schedule Michael to arrive this coming week. We will go in the hospital tuesday night for prep for an induction Wednesday morning. We are very excited and anxious to meet this wonderful little boy that God has blessed us with.
We plan to spend this final weekend as a family of 3 loving on and perhaps (just a little) spoiling Kaylee. She is excited for Michael to come out of mommy's tummy.... or so she says.... :)

We will keep you all updated on Michael's arrival... just pray for us and that everything goes well with Delivery and bringing him home to meet his big sister.

We love you all....... 3 days and counting!!!

Time for Tea!

This afternoon Kaylee was playing in her playroom with 'The beast' (a huge beast that Chris had prior to our marriage). She decided to throw a tea party for Beast and a few other stuffed 'friends'- Mickey Mouse, Pooh, and Beast to be exact.

Chris and I just sat and watched as she set everything out and carried out this tea party all on her own, pouring tea, passing out cookies and talking to her friends. It was so cute and so amazing to watch her imagination at work. Of course the mommy in my had to pull out my camera to catch it on film! Enjoy!
